How to Make Graffiti with Light

Some of the most visually stunning graffiti requires no paint whatsoever. This niche within the graffiti scene requires the use of glow sticks, cathode ray tubes, flashlights, and even candles. Ok ok, so a few of you may be wondering, “how the hell do you make graffiti with light?”

It’s easy. Well, that is if you have the right equipment. The first thing you need is a camera with a fast shutter speed, long exposure time, and a low ISO setting. The second thing you need is a tripod, of course.

The Pinkberry, Red Mango, Yogurtland Takeover

by Amanda Tjan on May 27, 2008

So maybe frozen yogurt doesn’t have much street cred, but I think this recent phenomenon is worth

observing. For the last several years, the plain tart frozen yogurt has had more and more people lining up out the door. From what I’ve heard, this trend has only really hit Southern California and NYC, but I have no doubt in my mind that this will soon catch on in other areas (hopefully Boston).

When the leggings trend came back from the dead a couple years ago, it was the happiest day of my life. Unlike
the tight and starchy jeans I had to jump into every morning, leggings were uber comfortable. I could throw them on under dresses when it was cold and they looked perfect with all my too big tops. The only problem is that sometimes, leggings just could not replace the classic look of jeans. If only tight jeans were more comfortable…

Fashion Progression (Regression)

In the early 1990’s clothing was horrendous, it was unlike anything the world had seen before. Day-glow colors and horrible triangular shapes with sharp edges defined the style. Watch an episode of “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” and you will know what I mean. But where did this kind of fashion sense, or lack thereof, come from?

So high-rise bottoms started to make a comeback last year, but that doesn’t mean I can’t be obsessed with the new high rise shorts this season. For many of us, low-rise jeans can result in unsightly love handles that make many of us think twice about wearing them on one of our fat days. High-rise corset pants, however, help hold all of our junk in since they often end above our belly buttons (our natural waist) where we are narrower. Plus, they are just flat out trendier and offer a great change of pace from regular denim.

Money is something that everyone has spent, saved, cherished, and lusted for at one point or another during their lifetime. In a capitalistic society, money is the cornerstone of a good, happy, and prosperous life. The “Understand the Real Value of Money” series, by JWT Sao Paulo agency, comments on the histories of some of the most powerful nations in the world and their flaws. The design value of these images is simply stunning and inspirational. Represented here is the dollar, yen, and euro, respectively. Highlighted issues in these three images include war, pollution, greed, illegal immigration, accidents, terrorism, capitalism, religion, and drugs. This print campaign is teeming with symbolism and allusions.

Slowly but surely, suspenders have started to invade the fashion scene. Last year, Mischa Barton made them her go-to accessory, and more recently Victoria Beckham rocked Dior suspenders on the cover of the January 2008 issue of Elle. Suspenders add a nostalgic air to a modern day outfit, except that now we don’t need to use them to hold up our pants.

This Spring, you may notice the ubiquitous Wayfarer style shades. Popularized back in the 1980′s by Tom Cruise in the movie Risky Business, these have become all the rage across college campuses. Ray Ban makes an all black, all red, and leopard print version, but they are going to cost you a pretty penny. eBay is your friend, just watch out for knockoffs/ones without polarized lenses. If you don’t feel like spending $100+ on sunglasses, UrbanOutfitters has a two tone wayfarer for $18.00.
