This week’s Mixtape Mondays segment is a continuation of last week’s mixtape. This week we are showcasing We Got It 4 Cheap Volume 2. This mixtape was first released in late 2005. It was so well-received that it was awarded the “Best Mixtape of 2005″ award by AllHipHop.com. Back again on the mixtape is the entire Re-Up Gang. This mixtape is much more solid overall in terms of beats, vocals, and verses. Tracks like Mic Check, Hate It or Love It, I’m a Hustla, and Daytona 500 simply bring the hip-hop mixtape to new, uncharted levels. [read more…]
Up for grabs this week in Mixtape Mondays is Clipse’s We Got It 4 Cheap Volume 1. This album was released in early 2004, which makes it over 4 years old. Clipse is comprised of Malice and Pusha T, who are known for rapping mainly about drug-trafficking. This was the first mainstream album released after Clipse’s debut album entitled Lord Willin’. We Got It 4 Cheap Volume 1 is hosted by DJ Clinton Sparks, and also featured Ab-Liva and Sandman, who make up the other half of the Re-Up Gang. [read more…]
So everyone goes through their obsessions every once in a while, and my obsession for the past year has been plaid. In particular, I love buffalo plaid. The fact that it’s getting colder (at least on the east coast) sucks, but it also means that I can get out my funky red buffalo plaid jacket/top. So when I started looking for a new pair of sneakers, it was only natural for me to gravitate towards Creative Recreation’s Purple Buffalo Sneakers. Although normally I tend to prefer lumberjack red buffalo print, I like the purple version of these high top sneakers simply because the purple gives them a more feminine look. Plaid itself has a very masculine look to it, but with the right styling it can give a girl an outfit with an edgy yin and yang of male and female. With these shoes though, the red version of the shoes was a little too masculine looking for my taste. The style of the sneaker itself is bulkier, so with the red buffalo print…the shoe just wasn’t balanced. However, the purple adds enough of a girly flair that the sneakers work. Plus, I really like the velcro over the front of the shoe. If you like what you see, check them out at Karmaloop here and snag a pair. In case you were ever wondering what it would look like to film a near-death experience, you’re in luck. This is probably the most bad ass skateboarding video that I’ve ever seen. I literally held my breath during a few parts. This high-definition clip, filmed by Adam Kimmel, features three bearded men dressed in purple suits with no protection besides helmets skateboarding at over 50mph. In some parts of the video, they are seen heading toward oncoming traffic. I think we have ourselves a checklist of awesome. Here’s a map highlighting the route that they took. Watch the video (navigate to 2:24 if you want to cut right to the skating). [read more…]
I am excited to announce the launch of Kallusive in all Metropark stores nationwide. If you don’t already know, Kallusive is an up and coming, LA-based clothing company. All of their shirts demand attention and would make any passerby look twice. The intricacy of their shirts is astounding (with details on the sleeves and along the bottom of the tees) and really requires [read more…]
