Joe Budden Meets Portishead Mixtape

Joe Budden Meets Portishead Mixtape

This week in Mixtape Mondays, we have the third release in Joe Budden’s Mood Muzik series. On this mixtape, Joe Budden’s lyrical flow is mashed up with the tunes of trip-hop pioneers Portishead. Joe Budden’s 2003 single Pump It Up is a song that many have probably heard at one point in their lives. Budden’s Mood Muzik series of mixtapes have received much critical acclaim. In case you forgot, Portishead released such classic LPs as 1994′Dummy and 1997′s Portishead. Earlier this year, Portishead released their first album in over ten years, entitled Third.

I think by now, most of us realize who is for the war in Iraq, and who is against it. But for those who do not, here is a visual clue. This dazzling (and somewhat bizzare) anti-war mural was spotted in Berkeley, California. Stenciled on the bottom of the wall is a collection of American skylines, from New York to San Fransico. Credits to New River Head.

Boston Through the Eyes of Nick Keating

Boston Through the Eyes of Nick Keating

This amazing short film by Nick Keating reflects the personal experiences of a man living and exploring the beautiful city of Boston. From his video description:

I try to ride my bike around Boston everyday, listening to my ipod, and enjoying all the beautiful things the city has to offer. Riding my bike is a time to relax, reflect and just get away from any or all worries. Every shot in this video is a point along my ride that I stop and think about life. This short is meant to show how I see Boston, every time I go for a ride. Enjoy.

Tech mumbo-jumbo:
Shot with Sony FX1
Edited with Final Cut Pro
Song: Air “La Femme d’Argent”

Diplo Peforms at the Middle East in Cambridge

Sweaty, drunken teen girls bumping and grinding with a giant slice of cheese pizza on a stage is usually something that only occurs in the most bizarre of fantasies. But, on Friday October 17th, Diplo and the Mad Decent crew (shoutout to Pizzaboy) made this a glorious reality.

John McCain Dancing in Stamford CT by Billi Kid

John McCain Dancing in Stamford CT by Billi Kid

Right now, you may be scratching your head, wondering what exactly constitutes “sticker culture.” Well, sticker culture can be categorized as an off-shoot of graffiti, wheat pasting, and other forms of street art. It’s fresh, ground-breaking, and setting the street art bar just a little bit higher. No longer bound to legendary figures like Shepard Fairey of “Andre the Giant Has a Posse” fame, sticker designs come from all manner of places and all kinds of skill. From hand drawn pieces on USPS labels, to high-quality vinyl prints, artists all across the globe create and trade stickers with one another. [read more…]

M.I.A. Donning a Baby Bump at Diesel's XXX via lastnightsparty

In somewhat of a shocking revelation, Jetcomx has learned that artist Mathangi “Maya” Arulpragasam, aka M.I.A., is pregnant with her very first child. The reports were confirmed when pictures and video surfaced of her with a baby bump. The father of the baby is fiancé Ben Brewer, the front-man of New York City-based rock band The Exit. The details of her pregnancy were leaked during an exclusive interview on PitchforkTV, the sister site of the highly influential indie-music website. As if there was any doubt about the pregnancy, in the video interview taped before her Saturday night performance at Diesel’s XXX Party, the singer stated that she was currently “creating a baby.” She also brought up the fact that,
