Conan O'Brien

I can’t belive that it’s already been three weeks since Late Night with Conan O’Brien ended. Like millions of others across the country and around the world (Finland, I’m looking at you), I was not nearly ready for the 6’4″ funnyman to go off the air. It’s not that Late Night with Jimmy Fallon isn’t funny or entertaining, it’s just that it’s not Conan. Maybe it’s just me, but it’s definitely going to take some time to get used to Jimmy and his style of comedy. So in my state of drunken-nostalgia, I put together a list of videos depicting some of the greatest musical acts that have ever appeared on Late Night with Conan O’Brien. Take a look at the list after the jump.

  • Adam Shore

    It’s called “Romantic Rights.”

  • DFA1971

The DFA1979 song is “Romantic Rights”, not “Romantic Nights”. Just sayin’. :)

    Great list…

Not saying Weinberg jumping on the sticks with DFA1979 isn’t awesome, nor am I saying that for any of the performances, but there are some that missing which I’d probably have included on my list (not that you asked)…

The Stripes performing ‘Effect and Cause’ while sitting in the audience… any number of Conan’s own rockabilly performances during the writer’s strike, or Dropkick Murphys with Kilty McBagpipes. Those are off the top of my head–either way, there’s been a lot of great music on that show.

Most of my confusion about your choices was sorted out by reading your byline. The show has been on for 16 years and everything on here is from after the advent of youtube.
You should check out a CD called Live From 6A. It’s a compilation of tracks from the first 10 years of Conan’s show. Some of it doesn’t hold up. A lot of it does. Bjork’s first solo album, Soul Coughing, Elvis Costello.

yes, my picks were somewhat limited due to the fact that not every performance had a video available on the internet. there are tons of other great performances and I acknowledge that. I will definitely look out for that CD, it sounds awesome.

I watched a great Bruce Springsteen Performance on the show once. However that Tribe clip was dope enough. Thanks.

  • Andrew Boni

very cool. when was the Boss’s performance? did Max help out?

  • http://gavinstephens.ca/blog/ Gavin Stephens

Yes he did, but it was a very minimal performance. This was maybe five years ago. I never really listened to Bruce Springsteen before, but it was a very powerful performance.

  • Andrew Boni

    Oh, that’s awesome.
