Conan O'Brien

I can’t belive that it’s already been three weeks since Late Night with Conan O’Brien ended. Like millions of others across the country and around the world (Finland, I’m looking at you), I was not nearly ready for the 6’4″ funnyman to go off the air. It’s not that Late Night with Jimmy Fallon isn’t funny or entertaining, it’s just that it’s not Conan. Maybe it’s just me, but it’s definitely going to take some time to get used to Jimmy and his style of comedy. So in my state of drunken-nostalgia, I put together a list of videos depicting some of the greatest musical acts that have ever appeared on Late Night with Conan O’Brien. Take a look at the list after the jump. [read more…]

MIA Kanye West Jay-Z Lil' Wayne TI Grammys Last night, M.I.A., Kanye West, Jay-Z, Lil’ Wayne, and T.I. performed their highly anticipated rendition of “Swagga Like Us” at the 2009 Grammys. Donning a black and white polka-dotted outfit, M.I.A. was the first one out on stage. Nine months pregnant, the British phenom looked as if her water was going to break if a stiff breeze hit her. When a familiar beat started playing, it seemed as if she was going to perform her hit single “Paper Planes” until she uttered her famous hook, “No one on the corner has swagger like us.” Then, Kanye, Jay-Z, Lil’ Wayne, and T.I. popped out on stage dressed in fresh looking tuxedos. Each of them took one verse of the song and killed it. I found it a little weird, however, that the signal faded in and out of black and white. Anyone else feel the same way? Check out the video: [read more…]

notorious_big biggie smalls I’ve always loved Biggie Smalls’ music. His beats are sick and his flow is unbelievable- there’s no denying it. With the release of the biopic Notorious on Jan 16th, I did some digging on the internet to learn more about the man. I stumbled across this video, which features Biggie Smalls at age 17 in a lop-sided rap battle. It’s clearly evident that even at that young age, Biggie was bound for stardom. He had something special. Take a look at the clip, and let me know what you think. [read more…]

Lykke Li Rick Ross

I love this video. It’s indie darling Lykke Li performing her own version of Rick Ross’s 2006 hit “Hustlin.” This video was taken inside of LA’s Not to Be Reproduced. On guitar is Björn Yttling, member of the Swedish indie rock band entitled Peter Bjorn and John. Seeing Lykke Li curse like that is pretty weird and funny at the same time. The audience seems to totally dig it, nonetheless.

Photoshop Adbusting On Display in Berlin Subway

Christina Aguilera Adbusting Berlin Subway
Adbusting is a type of street art in which a billboard or other large, obnoxious advertisement is cleverly altered, or even destroyed. More often then not, adbusting is done to send a very specific message to a large audience. Photos snapped earlier this week show the work of Mr. Tailon, Baveux Prod., Kone, & Epoxy. They wheatpasted Photoshop controls and boxes onto a large Berlin subway ad containing the pictures of Britney Spears, Leona Lewis, and Christina Aguilera. I’m pretty certain that these guys were successful in getting their point across.

Jay-Z vs. Radiohead Jaydiohead Minty Fresh Beats This week in the Mixtape Mondays segment we have one of the more interesting albums of late. New York-based producer Minty Fresh Beats has created Jaydiohead, an album that mashes up the best of both Jay-Z and Radiohead. It’s garnered much attention since it’s release, and has been featured on MTV.com, NME.com, and Last Call with Carson Daly, among others. A few of the must-listen to tracks include “Wrong Prayer” and “99 Anthems.” [read more…]
