Kanye West Monster Music Video
Back in December, portions of Kanye’s “Monster” music video were leaked, much to our delight. We were shown a very dark, macabre kind of music video complete with hanging corpses, beheadings, and S&M.

Now, with the release of the official video for the hit single off of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, we get to see English director Jake Nava’s work as it was meant to be seen (and it’s more twisted than we could have imagined).

Kid Cudi Rapper

Here’s the latest from Mr. Cudi — an official music video for Marijuana, a track off of Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager. If you needed any more proof that Kid Cudi loves smoking, look no further. The video, shot and directed by Shia LeBeouf of Transformers fame, gives us a grainy peek into Cudi’s escapades at a party featuring a mariachi band, an Amsterdam coffee shop, the infamous Red Light District, and finally, performing on stage.

Kanye-West-All-of-The-Lights
The music video for Kanye’s “All of the Lights” has just been released. It’s an amalgamation of words and bright colors that’s wild enough to make your head explode. I love Kid Cudi’s little dance at the end. And as usual, Rihanna looks absolutely amazing. [read more…]

colbert-vampireweekend-blackkeys

It’s no lie that both Vampire Weekend and The Black Keys have both had stellar 2010s. As a result, they’re up for a bunch of awards, including Best Alternative Album at the Grammys.

In order to sway to official vote of last year’s Best Comedy Album Grammy winner Stephen Colbert, Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend and Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney of The Black Keys appeared on Colbert’s show. They had a “sellout-off” in which the band that whored out the most music would win. The resulting bit is hilarious; you have to check it out. [read more…]

Broken Social Scene

Indie rockers Broken Social Scene released their music video for “Texaco Bitches,” one of the hit songs from their latest album Forgiveness Rock Record. The video features a wrestling match between two guys slathered in what appears to be either oil or chocolate sauce. Since the song title includes the name of a major oil brand, I’m gonna go with the former. [read more…]

The Black Keys were the musical guest this past weekend on SNL, and performed two of the best songs from their critically acclaimed album Brothers. They first performed “Howlin’ for You” and later “Tighten Up.” Dan Auerbach looked noticeably different sporting a clean-shaven face in lieu of his usual Grizzly Adams-style beard.

The blues-rock duo totally killed it in their first ever Saturday Night Live performance. This is kind of the cherry on top of what has been an amazing year for them; Brothers has been included on myriad Best of 2010 lists and has even been nominated for Best Alternative Album at the Grammys. Kristine Flaherty, better known by her stage name K.Flay, is one of the most talented burgeoning female rappers around. 2010 was a breakout year for the Stanford grad; she collaborated with French cello/violin duo SomethingALaMode on their hit song “5am” and released her mixtape Mashed Potatoes. She’s drawn comparisons to Liz Phair, Fiona Apple and Missy Elliot, and has already performed alongside big name acts like Snoop Dogg, Ludacris and 3OH!3. [read more…]

bag-raiders
Love this song “Sunlight” by Australian house duo Bag Raiders. The song came out a few months back on Australian radio and has been steadily gaining popularity here in the states. Bag Raiders are mainly famous for their remixes, but have also come out with some killer songs of their own like “Shooting Stars,” “Way Back Home,” and of course “Sunlight.”

The music video chronicles a love affair between a zoo employee (who could pass for Scarlett Johansson) and a chimpanzee. It’s cute, but a little strange nonetheless.
