Once upon a time there was this brilliant film director named Patrick Daughters who directed short films, commercials and videos for indie artists. They were brilliant. The end?

Ooh, not even close. This Cali cool man is all but 33 years old, pumping out more indie-related videos than a 17-year-old guitar player with a bad haircut and a YouTube account. He’s the one behind the avant-garde, split screen video of King of Leon’s ‘Bucket’ and the iPod-induced sensation of Feist’s ’1234′ (not to mention the ultra chic ‘My Moon My Man,’ ‘Mushaboom,’ and ‘I Feel it All’).

I’ve always loved the noir feel of this video:
[MEDIA not found]

You may also recognize these wow-wow videos directed by Daughters:
Yeah Yeah Yeahs – ‘Date With a Night/’ ‘Maps’/'Turn Into’
Bright Eyes – ‘Four Winds’/'Hot Knives’
The Shins – ‘Phantom Limb’
MIKA – ‘Big Girl (You Are Beautiful)’
Death Cab for Cutie – ‘Title and Registration’
Beck – ‘Nausea’

So it’s no surprise Grizzly Bear’s video for ‘Two Weeks’ is raising eyebrows… it’s just another masterpiece from the dancing, floating, spinning mind of Daughters.
Released from their latest album Veckatimest, ‘Two Weeks’ has this juke-ragtime feeling with just enough sunshine to give you the creeps. The video most definitely does it justice:

[MEDIA not found]

‘Two Weeks’ cries a sad sort of romantic with its simple lyrics and harmonies that have an I-found-Jesus vibe. In the video, the loafing lids over bug eyes plus those slow-forming smirks reflect the lovesick melancholy in the song, and the holy locale just ties everything together for me.

Three cheers to Grizzly Bear and Patrick Daughters! A beautiful playoff fit for an independent film festival.

Right now, summer is kickin’ in full gear. It seems like the fall is so far away. However, this isn’t thecase; fall is creeping closer and closer with every passing minute. With fall comes the exciting, fresh, new school year. You’re going to need something durable and fashionable to carry around your laptop, iPod, textbooks, pens, pencils, and everything else. What better excuse to cop the Incase Nylon Backpack?
Incase has a reputation of pairing minimalism and elegance with mad functionality. They make a wide range of electronic accessories, but nothing as sweet as the Nylon Backpack. It has a ton of features including:

Reinforced notebook protection with plush faux-fur interior lining

Custom weather resistant nylon construction

Custom topographic print lining

Two primary exterior zipper compartments for ample storage

Exterior horizontal zipper pocket revealing three internal well pockets

Large exterior vertical zipper pocket behind mesh back panel

Interior zipper pocket with topographic print lining

Multiple interior mesh utility pockets with elastic tops for sturdy storage of variably sized items

Two interior well pockets with Velcro closures

Three interior business card pockets

Exterior top-loading faux-fur lined zipper pocket with iPod headphone port

Two exterior faux-fur lined hip pockets with iPod headphone port

Padded shoulder straps for increased comfort and ergonomic support

Padded back panel with breathable mesh and integrated air-flow channels

Adjustable sternum and waist straps for increased comfort and stability

Reinforced nylon top-loading handle

Heavy-duty YKK zipper pulls and closed-seam zipper construction

Breakaway key ring and accessory attachments

I’ve been looking for a decent bookbag-style laptop carrying case for a while now. One drawback though, is that it’s pricy at $99. Nevertheless, my prayers have been answered. Finally, I know that this fall I’ll be rocking the Nylon Backpack. Will you?
