On Sunday evening, fashion icon and revolutionary designer Yves St. Laurent passed away at the age of 71 following a long illness. Long considered to be a legend even among gods, St. Laurent has single handedly managed to rivet the eyes and the breath of the fashion world for over five decades. His most celebrated contributions include the first safari jacket for fashion, Le Smoking Jacket, and the famed cone bra (which propelled Madonna’s reputation as a taboo breaker).
I suggest you ladies, especially, get yourself well acquainted with this man’s designs. He understood and grasped the basic concepts of simple yet seductive designs and was a trendsetter whose designs influenced not mere months but years of styles. As the Los Angeles Times stated in its June 3rd article, “…There is virtually nothing about the way we dress or the way we shop now that was not a result of his 44-year career…”
Below is a tribute to St. Laurent entitled “Yves St. Laurent’s 1962 Fashion Show and Commentary.” Enjoy & I hope you learn to love him as much as do I.
