Attention all you budding mash-up artists and DJs: Phoenix has just released the multitrack recordings of every one of their songs on Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix. This means that it’s now easier than ever to remix and mash-up Phoenix’s latest album. It’s a pretty awesome move on their part, if you ask me.

Now that 2010 has arrived, most of the major music publications have finished putting out their picks for the top albums of 2009. Each newspaper, magazine, and blog uses their own criteria to determine their rankings, leading to an infinite amount of subjectivity. In the words of my boy Alex, these lists are more or less “an exercise in futility.” 2009 did have its share of great, universally acclaimed albums (you’d be hard-pressed to find an indie outfit that didn’t list Grizzly Bear, Animal Collective, Phoenix, or Dirty Projectors in their top ten), but there were more than a handful of albums that flew below the radar. Yessss, it’s finally Friday. This week, we’ve got Chromeo, Kanye West, Fatboy Slim, Grizzly Bear, Dead Prez, MSTRKRFT, Phoenix and more. I’m definitely a huge fan of LMFAO’s remix of Kanye’s “Paranoid.” It’s about 700 times better than the original. Also, this week, I’ve included a mash-up that’s too good to have left out. It’s The Hood Internet’s “Two Weeks of Hip-hop,” which is a mash-up of Grizzly Bear and Dead Prez. Have an awesome Columbus Day weekend, and enjoy.
