Today is the the 4th of July; America’s own Independence Day. As per the annual tradition, every 4th of July evening explosions of color mark the sky. “The Samurai” tee by Tank Theory also features an explosion of colors, which some say resemble miniature fireworks. The Funk from Rio de Janeiro
The sounds of Brazil have finally traveled to the north! With bands like Cansei de ser Sexy and Bonde de Role, it’s no wonder that North Americans can’t get enough of Brazilian music. In particular it seems Funk Carioca, or Brazilian funk, is on the rise. Something about the raw beats and the ludicrous nature of the lyrics seems refreshing compared to standard synth influenced dance music. In the Rio de Janeiro area, funk has evolved into music that breaks down social and racial barriers. Popular Baile dance parties are thrown where every social class enjoys Funk Carioca. Non-Brazilians call Funk Carioca Baile because of the close relationship between the two. The misnomer was created by Diplo when he used what he called “baile” tracks in his mixes. The popularity of baile was further cemented by M.I.A.’s “Bucky Done Gun” which was also produced by Diplo. Her track sampled Deize Tigrona’s baile funk song “Injeção.”

It’s time to discover a new, legal way to listen to the latest and greatest music. That’s why we at Jetcomx have compiled this top 10 list.
Kanye West Responds to Bonnaroo Criticism through his Blog
On Tuesday, June 24th, Kanye West fought back against heavy criticism and defended his Bonnaroo performance via his blog. In some ways I feel slightly bad for him, just because he has taken so much flak. Here are some of the highlights of what Kanye said in his post:
I am sick of negative people who just sit around trying 2 plot my downfall… Why????
Nobody’s plotting your downfall, Kanye. The fans of Bonnaroo just wanted a good, entertaining, on time performance, and we didn’t get that. We got an egotistical Kanye who strolled onto the stage 2 hours late and didn’t even acknowledge the crowd once. It was bright out halfway through your performance.
