Urban Piano Installed on a Stockholm Staircase

Volkwagon Urban Piano

So apparently this is a viral video for Volkwagen, and I have to say that it’s definitely succeeding in it’s goal — this has been making rounds on the internet since it was released at the end of last month. In the video, a group of people install a giant piano over top of a busy staircase in a subway. Each step on the staircase corresponds to a separate key on the piano. The people’s reactions to it are priceless. Check it out.

Don Diablo's New Mashup: Phoenix vs. Jay-Z - 99 Fences

don_diablo_you_will_never_leave_this_place

New Phoenix tracks seem to be popping up left and right these days, which makes sense because their new remix album is slated for release this Tuesday. Phoenix is seriously having a hell of a year.

Anyway, this new mash-up by Dutch producer Don Diablo, will not be featured on the official remix album. It should be though, because it’s just as good (if not better) than some of the other Phoenix remixes. On it, Diablo mashes up the King of New York‘s classic “99 Problems” with the French rock foursome’s smash hit “Fences.” Listen and download below.

Indie-pop foursome Vampire Weekend just released a new single off of their upcoming album Contra through their website. The new song is called “Horchata” and it’s a slight departure from some of the stuff on their debut self-titled album. Vampire Weekend fans need not worry however, because it’s a fresh, new, even more upbeat sound. On the new single, they utilize a lot of synth and xylophone. Their sound is definitely evolving.

Contra is set to be released in January.

Blurtt Brings Postcard Artwork to the Masses: An Interview with Co-founder/CEO Nikhil Sethi

[caption id=”attachment_2544” align=”aligncenter” width=”566” caption=”Blurtt Co-Founder/CEO Nikhil Sethi”]Blurtt Co-Founder Nik Sethi[/caption]

There once was a time when people sent postcards to friends, family members, and significant others in order to share their thoughts, experiences, ideas, and emotions. Now fast forward to today — when was the last time you sent out a postcard in the mail? It’s been a while, hasn’t it? Well, one man is on a mission to try and change all of that. Recently, Jetcomx was lucky enough to chat with Nikhil Sethi, co-founder/CEO of blurtt.

Andrew Boni: Thanks for taking the time to talk to us today. Why don’t you go ahead and tell us a little bit about yourself. Where do you call home? What school do you do to? What are you studying?
Nikhil Sethi: My names Nikhil Sethi, I grew up around the Bay Area, a little bit from San Francisco, in a small town called Saratoga. Currently I’m going to school at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL studying Electrical Engineering and Law.

AB: Alright, so give us the low-down on blurtt. Maybe some people have heard of it, while others haven’t. What exactly is blurtt? What does blurtt do? What makes it special?

NS: So blurtt.com__ is tackling the problem of creating emotion in day to day communication. You may go online and send a few emails to your friends, or send a couple of text messages, but its not easy to quickly get across real emotion. We’ve created a simple, easy to use online interface that lets you send real, printed postcards with YOUR handwriting to your friends anywhere in the world. The best part is you don’t even need to know your friend’s addresses to send a postcard to them. As long as they are on Facebook or Twitter, or even have an email address, it’s easy to send them a message on a real postcard that has real emotional impact, as its something that arrives to them in a physical form.

The Hood Internet vs Dialogue Inc

This Monday we’ve got a mixtape from The Hood Internet, one of the best in the mash-up genre. We’ve featured them on here a bunch of times in the past. Earlier this year, they did an hour long mix for one of Dialogue Inc.’s podcasts in which they introduced their new material. Take a listen to this clip and then download the entire album. Enjoy!
