After listening to one of these mash-up albums long enough (Feed the Animals anyone?), your head feels likes its going to explode à la Scanners. The Hood Internet is a breath of fresh air in the mash-up genre. In case you were wondering, The Hood Internet is comprised of Aaron Brink (aka ABX) and Steve Reidell (aka STV SLV). The Chicago based duo specialize in mashing up hip-hop with indie rock. On The Hood Internet vs Chicago, the two allow each sampled song to play for 30 seconds or longer which results in a much more listenable mixtape.

Congratulations SUPER CR3W!!!! On Thursday August 21, Super Cr3w took the gold at the season finale of the second season of America’s Best Dance Crew. Yet again, the west coast won the whole thing. I guess California (many of Super Cr3w’s members are from southern CA) is a breeding ground for amazing crews. What really made Super Cr3w stand apart from everyone else was their unique bboy style and mind blowing stunts. They gave America a huge peek into the break dancing world and developed their choreography skills into a force to be reckoned with. Out of all the crews, Super Cr3w showed the most diversity and definitely deserved the champion title.

His collection spans every single genre of American music, from rock to jazz, country to R&B, blues to broadway - the list goes on. He even has a record that is over 127 years old. What’s more amazing is the fact that more than half of his collection is brand new. You see, Paul Mawhinney used to own a record shop until it closed down earlier this year. Originally released in late 2004, Piracy Funds Terrorism Vol. I can be considered old, in a way. But, with theresurgance of M.I.A.’s popularity after both the release of her album Kala, in 2007, and the featuring of her hit single in the movie Pineapple Express, it seems only natural to post this classic of a mixtape. Featured on it are 21 tracks of M.I.A. (duh) collaborating with Philadelphia’s own DJ Diplo, or simply Diplo. My personal favorite track on this mixtape is number 7, entitled Amazon (Diplo Mix).
